Letters to my Children

I know I have blogged about this in the past, however I felt as if I needed to touch on the subject once more. Tonight I was writing in Brittany's journal because she has once again crossed the finish line in one of many accomplishments in her young life..... She passed her driving test. I know she is not 16 yet, but she takes drivers ED at school and they take the test at school so when she does turn 16 all she has to do is take the slip of paper up there and get her picture taken and that's it, no driving test or anything. So today she text me and told me she passed, this is BIG because she has already failed it twice because she could not do a 3 point turn. She passed today!!!!!! Yeah Brittany....

Ok, as I was saying I was writing all of this in her journal that is for her once she gets married or whenever I feel like I need to turn it over to her. As I was writing she comes in the kitchen and tells me how retarded I am for writing in this book for her.... I then explained to her that when I am dead and gone she will be able to read through it and remember stuff that she may have forgotten about or what not. She still looked at me like I had been drinking or something. She will appreciate it one day.

I also need to tell you what else I was writing for her to remember. Today I also went and bought her a lunch box... per her request..yes, you are reading this right. My 15 year old daughter is taking a lunch box to school tomorrow. And this is not any old lunch box. It is the old fashion tin kind with what else but Hello Kitty on it !!!!!!! This was all done by her request. I did not make her or suggest any of this. She is the one that told me what kind she wanted and what she wanted it to look like. So when she wants to tell me I am retarded for writing in a journal for her I hope she can look back and see how crazy she was for taking a Hello Kitty lunch box to school when she is almost old enough to drive herself to go get her own lunch :) Ha Ha !

So those of you that have failed to get your journals yet for your children or have not updated them recently... Get on it ! I know with all of this networking that we are doing it is taking up so much of our time, it is the little things we need to try to remember because before we know it they will be driving and talking about college :(

And for those of you that have no clue what I am talking about... I have 2 journals for each of my children that I write in periodically about stuff they have said, done, accomplishments or what ever I feel like telling them. These will be handed to them when I see appropriate for them to reflect back on or pick up where I have left off in there life. It is also a reflection for me so I can recall things they have done or what not. It goes by so fast that its hard to remember all of it.

Just a suggestion if you dont have one :(

Congrats to Brittany! I so dread that day when Eva starts driving. Let's get through preschool first.
